用戶可透過ESET NOD32 Smart Security / ESET NOD32 Antivirus 3.0的指令式掃描器以掃描Windows Live Messenger (MSN)所接收的檔案，避免受到惡意程式侵襲。
設定如下：
1. 開啟Windows Live Messenger
(「開始」→「所有程式」→「Windows Live Messenger」)
2. 選擇「工具」→「選項」。
3. 清單左邊選取「檔案傳輸」。右邊勾選「使用下列軟體進行病毒掃描」。
4. 點擊瀏覽並在C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus 或 C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET NOD32 Smart Security 路徑下選取ecls.exe。
5. 選取完成後，在路徑最後加上日誌及清除指令: /adv-heur /adware /arch /boots /files /mail /pattern /quarantine /rtp /sfx /subdir /unsafe /unwanted /aind /base-dir="C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus (或ESET NOD32 Smart Security)" --log-file=log.txt --action=clean
